WHY IS WTA A NONPROFIT?
WTA is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization because that classification allows us to solicit, collect, and fundraise donations used for our volunteer impact projects. Donating supplies, refurbishing schools and learning centers, and planting vegetable gardens are examples of using collected funds for WTA Impact Projects.
HOW LONG IS A WTA EXPERIENCE?
WTA Trips vary depending on the type of experience, but most WTA trips are 7-11 days, in order to maximize the experience in a country or region. Check the specifics of future WTA trips on the Upcoming Experiences page.
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TRAVEL INSURANCE?
It’s always recommend for a few extra bucks to protect your trip, and anything unforeseen that can happen while traveling. We suggest travel medical insurance for all WTA experiences. DO I NEED A TRAVEL VISA?
Each country has their own visa requirements and we always advise U.S. citizens if they will require a specific visa ahead of time or on arrival. It is important that you check for yourself what is needed for you to enter the country.
DO I NEED A PASSPORT?
Yes. As a general rule most countries expect that you will have at least 6 months validity on your passport. On arrival visitors may be asked to present return tickets and evidence of means to cover your intended stay.
WHAT SHOULD I PACK?
We always recommend traveling light, with essentials only. Keep unnecessary valuables at home! You'll get a complete packing list after booking your trip.
IS IT SAFE TO TRAVEL WITH WTA THROUGHOUT THE WORLD?
Yes, we live in the country months before you even step foot there. We create relationships with various organizations and locals to ensure the safest experience. In general, we advise everyone to be a conscious and safe traveler, and act wisely and respectfully.
HOW DO I GET LOCAL CURRENCY?
Withdrawing from ATMs is an easy and efficient way to have local currency. We suggest advising your bank of your travels ahead of time and check their fees for overseas withdrawals. Bring additional spending money for food, snacks or local souvenirs.
WHEN CAN I BOOK MY FLIGHT?
Early is often cheapest. Once you have secured your spot through a deposit, don’t hesitate to book your international flights. Send us your flight itinerary so we can coordinate your transportation.
WHAT ABOUT DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?
Breakfast is always included, and it traditionally a spread that will please even the strictest diners. We will always provided lunch and dinner options throughout the experience that can cater to a variety of dietary options. We recommend bringing any snacks or protein bars that you really enjoy.
DO I NEED ANY VACCINES?
We highly recommend that you check with your doctor and the CDC website prior to traveling to ensure all routine vaccines are up to date.
